Court dates and poker books
In 2005, Brunson underwent scrutiny by the Securities and Exchange Commission when he spontaneously offered to purchase WPT Enterprises, Inc. at a price significantly higher than its market value. Following the public announcement of the offer by a PR agency hired by Doyle, the stock price of WPT soared rapidly. Allegedly, there was an intention to artificially inflate the stock's value through manipulation. The Securities and Exchange Commission is yet to schedule a date for an oral hearing.
Brunson was inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame in 1998, and in 2006, Bluff Magazine named him the number one most influential figure in the world of poker. He authored perhaps the most influential poker book, published in 1978 under the title "Super System" (updated to "Super System 2" in 2004). Furthermore, he has penned Poker Wisdom of a Champion (1984) and My Fifty Most Memorable Hands (2007). He has made numerous television appearances showcasing his poker prowess and is an avid supporter of the online gaming platform Doyle's Room.
